In this class you’ll get off to a great start by learning the “magic adjustable ring” method of beginning your work.  You’ll learn to crochet in the round, position safety eyes, change colors in your work, and the importance of “sculpting” as you stuff your doll.  You’ll be working with Kara’s top-down amigurumi method by crocheting your doll’s head, torso, and legs in one piece.  This will give your doll a professional look and give you the satisfaction of not having to sew a bunch of parts together.  You’ll learn Kara’s “no embroidery” technique for making great faces and you’ll learn to make hats, shoes and bags to compliment your doll’s personality.

By the end of the class, you’ll not only have your own beautiful, customized doll, you’ll also have the techniques and skills necessary to make lots more!

Please bring the following materials to the first class: one ball of skin color yarn, 7mm safety eyes, F & G crochet hooks, scissors, and polyfiber stuffing. Karabouts doll patterns will be provided.

Amigurumi Crochet Doll Making
with Kara Lyon

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of making small toys out of yarn. In Kara's classes you will learn the secrets of crocheting beautiful, professional-looking amigurumi, while making your very own customized Amigurumi crochet doll.

With the right tools and techniques, these lovely little dolls are surprisingly easy to make.  You only need to know one crochet stitch, the single crochet, so both beginners and experienced crocheters are welcome!
